Making Your 2018 Intentions SMART

Half of the people that I speak to are New Year Resolutionists while the other half state that they like to set goals (or as we like to call them, intentions) throughout the year, just not specifically at the beginning of the year. Whether you fall in the first category or the latter, it’s good to know how to set yourself up for success from the beginning when creating your new intentions. There are many variations out there of S.M.A.R.T. goals, but below is the combination that I like to use with my patients and for my own personal goals as well.

So, whether you are a New Year Resolutionist or simply someone that sets goals throughout the year, remember to set yourself up for success by making all of your intentions S.M.A.R.T.: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Based.

If one of your intentions is to improve your mental health and wellness, contact us today for an assessment. A Master’s level clinician will meet with you, help you identify your SMART goals and assist you in developing a road map to wellness to help you achieve that goal. Call or email us today (512) 306-1394.  info@SageRecoveryAustin.com.

Tiffany is a licensed clinical social worker who has extensive experience in the mental health and addiction fields. Tiffany graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Science in Social Work. While in graduate school, Tiffany co-facilitated adolescent group therapy at Lehman High School in Kyle, TX and established the county’s first LGBTQ peer group. Her final internship was a clinical position on the adult intensive care psychiatric unit at a large psychiatric hospital. Tiffany was hired full time immediately upon graduation and became the hospital’s detox social worker; conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions. Later, Tiffany joined their Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) running a Dual IOP group. While with the organization, Tiffany helped train new staff and interns, developed a training manual, created a database for the resource department, and helped audit for Joint Commission compliance.

In her varied experience, Tiffany knew there were elements that were missing from a top notch program that could make a huge impact in the success rate of a client’s recovery and mental wellness. This desire to bring about the change that was needed led her to open the doors to Sage Recovery & Wellness Center and the up and coming Sage Recovery Villa, a new innovative luxury drug and alcohol treatment center for adults focusing on trauma and deep healing. She wanted to create an aesthetically pleasing, warm environment that promoted tranquility and comfort in a modern spa-like atmosphere. She hand-selected master level therapists who are well respected in their fields and who also embrace the importance of research-proven methods for treating mental health and substance abuse. Sage is built upon this philosophy: client centered quality care.
